Currency of You

Everything you need to know about the 4-day/3-night, all-inclusive, art and story-based exploration of the financial stories we carry.

  • All women* carry stories about money. Some are hopes and fears handed down from our parents, grandparents, and elders. Some come from the assumptions of society. Some come from our own lived experience. All of them shape the way we navigate money and the exchange of value day to day.

Whether you want to take control of your finances or understand your financial shame, we invite you to join us in a community of trust and support and explore the ways we can use story, art, and movement to understand and reshape the financial stories we carry.

Over the course of 4 days, participants will work collectively and individually to use storytelling as a way to examine, balance, and reshape their relationship with money and financial matters. Participants will also use artistic process and exploration to deconstruct and reframe the financial stories they have carried.

As we tend to our hearts and minds, we are excited to rely on Adventure Chef and Yoga Teacher Shannon Walton to help us tend to our bodies through both nourishment and movement. Each day, participants will enjoy delicious meals, focused on fresh local ingredients and prepared to accommodate any dietary restrictions. Twice a day, participants will also engage in light movement work, designed to align with the work of our mental and emotional journey through our financial stories.

When they leave on Sunday, each participant will take home one piece of art and writing that represents their journey of transformation from old financial story to new, and will later receive a photo book containing a reproduction of the final story and artwork of each participant in their workshop.

Participants will also leave behind a second piece of art and writing that will become part of the Currency of You Workshop Collection.

  • Whether you come to Currency of You seeking to de-stress, find financial balance, step into a strong financial identity, build new financial boundaries and resilience, or navigate childhood or intergenerational financial traumas—you will be coming face-to-face with important and deeply personal issues.

We ask each person who attends the retreat to commit to honoring the privacy of each fellow participant and maintaining the confidentiality of all that is shared in our sacred space.

What’s more, many of the financial stories we carry cut deep into our sense of emotional security. We will do our best to create a safe and nurturing environment and to support each participant as they navigate their introspective financial journey. However, we are not mental health professionals.

We highly encourage all participants to seek out a well-trained mental health professional to either prepare for this work, follow up on the work we do, or both.
